Politic and Religion

Since its independence in 1964 Zanzibar holds a special political status as semi autonomic state, which is affiliated to the state of Tanzania. Since the year 2010 the island is governed by president Dr. Ali Mohamed Shein.

About 98% of Zanzibar's population are Muslims, the other 2% are composed of Christians, Hindus and Buddhists. Also Natural Religions are still praticed.
