Project DAWA (medical support)

With our project "DAWA" we try to make it possible for everyone to have access to medical treatment at a very low price or get it for free in cases of emergency. Therefore we support local hospitals with medical goods and medical equipment.

January 2017

This year again, thanks to the generous support of the Hirslanden Clinic, Zurich, we were able to provide the childrens hospital of Rinaldo Gasparini Foundation in Kendwa with plasters, bandages gloves gauzes and baby bottles. To the district hospital Kivunge we brought crutches, bed sheets, gloves, bandages, gauzes and glasses (collected by private persons). Nowadays an opthalmologist is working there.

January - February 2016

Eventually we were able to distribute the medical goods we shipped in a shared container in 2014. The Rinaldo Gasparini Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Kendwa recieved gauzes, bandages, plasters, single use syringes and blood pressure gouges for the little ones. Angela Giacomuzzi, the head doctor of the childrens clinic was more than happy and very greatful. In Kivunge at the district hospital we met two volunteer doctors of the English Organisation HIPZ. Shuang Wang (GB) and Alex Vogt (GE) confirmed how important and necessary these, from us delivered medical aids are.

January 2013

This year we had a very special delivery for the district hospital in Kivunge: An ultrasonic device. The hospital management was very happy about it, since this device was urgently needed, but way too expensive to buy. A specialist from England supervised the installation of the equipment as well as the instruction of the doctors. Furthermore we consigned many boxes of medical aids such as bandages, plasters, syringes etc.

March 2011

The hospital of Kivunge is about 20km south of Nungwi and it's a so called "cottage hospital" which means they are having in- and out-patients. We visited the facility and on the one hand we were speechless about the rudimental infrastructure, on the other hand very impressed by the engagement of the  local doctors and staff. We were very happy to support this hospital with four hospital beds, mattresses, one stretcher, one sterilizer, three microscopes, one special bed for maternity, two life-monitors, babyscales, several walking aids and approx. 35 boxes of medical goods (such as needles, syringes, bandages, blood pressure device, intravenous drips, disposable sheets, towels and blankets, and so on).

February 2010

Besides the local hospital we also handed over many pharmaceuticals and medical goods to the local doctors. A big surprise was the visit of Beatrice from Weesen, a woman who learned about our NGO in the internet and spontaneously came to Nungwi wih a huge bag of charity goods (from plasters to very nice children clothes). Thanks again Bea, you are wonderful.

July 2009:

We were able to bring quite a lot of medicine and dressing material to Nungwi. One half of it we handed over to a local doctor, the other half to the local hospital.

                      Ready for pick up

30 October 2008

Our package has safely arrived in Nungwi. The original response of Dr. Benny said as follows:

"I already received the package with lot of meds and materials. I am so happy, thank you very much. All materials are useful, thanks again. I'm happy that you care for others, that's good. May our God bless you all."

We would like to forward these thanks to the donors!

September 2008:

When we last visited Nungwi (June 2008) we brought for the dispensary 400 syringes as well as the appropriate needles, dressings, bandages, aseptic gloves and painkillers. Also for the hospital is another parcel ready. This time we will additionally send physical examination shirts, stethoscopes, lotions, tapes, medication, medicine boxes, clinical thermometers and disinfectants.
